Compressed Natural Gas

Compressed natural gas can achieve a cutting performance that will allow it to fully replace acetylene for shipyard and metal fabricator applications.

CNG should be considered as an alternative to acetylene and propane because:

Costs significantly less than acetylene
Cuts just as well as acetylene with no drop in performance
Is a safer fuel than acetylene
Better cutting quality than acetylene

Compressed Natural Gas is an excellent fuel and a real alternative to acetylene and propane, and here are some interesting points to consider when comparing CNG with acetylene;

It has less tendency to round the top edge of the cut and produces less slag or dross
The dross that is produced does not adhere as tightly to the plate and is more easily removed
And no difference was found in cutting speed between acetylene and compressed natural gas
