Oxygen
Compressed Oxygen Gas
We offer compressed oxygen gas in a variety of purities and concentrations.
Oxygen has strong oxidizing properties that can benefit many industries by improving yields, optimizing performance, and lowering costs. Applications such as combustion, oxidation, and fermentation can benefit by enriching or replacing process air with oxygen.
The oxidizing gas used for life sustaining and performance optimization applications.
Oxygen is a colorless, odorless reactive gas and the life-supporting component of air. It forms just under 21% of the earth’s atmosphere, and is the most abundant element in the earth’s crust, mainly in the form of oxides, silicates, and carbonates.
In addition to its use as a respiratory gas for healthcare applications, oxygen has strong oxidizing properties that can benefit many industries by improving yields, optimizing performance, lowering costs and reducing carbon footprint compared to other fuels. Oxygen enrichment or replacement of air also enhances chemical and biological process efficiency.
Motukea Gas Company produce and supply;
Industrial Oxygen
Motukea Gas Company Limited locally produces and supplies Industrial Oxygen with a purity range of 99.6 and higher.
Common applications include:
- Used with a fuel gas for cutting, welding, brazing and soldering. The use of oxygen gives higher flame temperatures than if air is used.
- In plasma and laser cutting steel, an arc or a laser beam is used to heat the steel to its ignition temperature.
- Oxygen is then used in the same way as with oxygen cutting to create an exothermic reaction and to blow away any metal oxide or slag
- Thermal lancing oxygen is used in conjunction with the steel lance to create a high temperature melting process capable of drilling or cutting through materials such as concrete, brick, stone and most metals
- Used as an assist gas in lasers for cutting mild steel

Medical Oxygen
Motukea Gas Company limited locally produce and supply Medical Oxygen in Papua New Guinea with fine micron filtration system through its medically graded Oxygen from natural air with the purity of 99.98% Oxygen.
Common applications include:
- Provide a basis for virtually all modern anesthetic techniques
- Restore tissue oxygen tension by improving oxygen availability in a wide range of conditions such as COPD, cyanosis, shock, severe hemorrhage, carbon monoxide poisoning, major trauma, cardiac/respiratory arrest
- Aid resuscitation
- Provide life support for artificially ventilated patients
- Aid cardiovascular stability
Contraindications/Side effects
There are no absolute contraindications to the use of oxygen but the inspired concentration should be limited in the case of premature infants and those patients with chronic bronchitis and emphysema.

Cautions
Medical oxygen is to be applied only with the aid of Medical Professionals. Because, compressed medical oxygen toxicity may manifest itself in the following ways:
- Retro lenticular fibroplasia in premature infants exposed to oxygen concentrations greater than 40%
- Convulsions appear after a few hours exposure to medical oxygen at pressures above 3bar (g)
- Retrosternal soreness associated with coughing and breathing difficulties, made worse by smoking and exposure to cold air after breathing pure medical oxygen at atmospheric pressure for several hours.
